Overview:

What occurs when two individuals genuinely love one another but aren't destined to be together? Childhood friends Takaki Toono and Akari Shinohara are torn apart by events beyond their control. They make a commitment to keep in touch, and even if time passes and their distance grows, the chain of memories never ends.In the romance drama Byousoku 5 Centimeter, the harsh and ordinary realities of long-distance relationships are the main subject matter. Takaki and Akari hold onto the prospect of one day seeing each other again, trapped in the past and unable to create any new memories. They damage both themselves and the people around them by leading mediocre lifestyles.
