Overview:

A highly developed invention called the Mizuhanome System lets people explore the human mind, one of the most fascinating locations on Earth. Detectives from the specialized police squad Kura are able to access a criminal's unconscious mind through the use of "cognition particles" that the culprit leaves behind at a crime scene. These particles allow the detectives to project the criminal's ideas into a virtual world in an unusual way. Their mission is to investigate this "id well," a psychic level, in order to identify the offender. It is not possible for anyone to enter the id wells without first having killed someone. This is the situation with ex-detective Akihito Narihisago, also known as "Sakaido" within the id wells.Tragic events quickly brought this once-respected police officer to the wrong side of the law. Still, Narihisago stays with Kura while she is imprisoned. Even while Narihisago's extraordinary investigative abilities are still helpful in investigations, he learns that not everything is as it seems since there is a far darker truth hidden beneath the seemingly unconnected string of murder cases.
