Summer Time Rendering

 Overview:

Shinpei Ajiro had lived with the Kofune family and their two children, Mio and Ushio, ever since his parents passed away. Even though Shinpei left his native island to pursue his studies in Tokyo, he later returned after Ushio drowns while trying to save a small child. His best friend raises doubts about Ushio's cause of death during the burial by telling him about bruises discovered around her neck. Shinpei reexamines recent events, suspecting a murder has occurred, but odd happenings keep happening. People going missing and other strange happenings remind Mio of an old folktale about creatures known as "Shadows," which may or may not be true. A meeting with one's Shadow is said to portend one's imminent death. Shinpei defies his terrible destiny and confronts the sinister aspect of Hitogashima Island in order to carry out Ushio's last wish—to keep Mio safe.
